Triston McKenzie Strikes Out 12
2 years agoCleveland Guardians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie was superb in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Tigers, tossing eight shutout frames to help earn his seventh win of the year. The 24-year-old struck out a season-high 12 batters while giving up five hits (all singles) and walking no one in the 109-pitch effort. Since allowing seven runs in his June 27 outing, McKenzie has tossed 21 shutout frames over his last three starts combined with just nine hits allowed and a 23/6 K/BB in that span. He'll look to keep the momentum going in the second half as he enters the break with a 3.20 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 96 strikeouts through 101 1/3 innings pitched.
