Tucupita Marcano Showing Knack At The Plate

3 years agoSan Diego Padres infield prospect Tucupita Marcano has turned heads in spring training, demonstrating impressive plate awareness. Off to an early 3-for-4 start, Marcano has built off his strong 2020 summer camp and is included with regarded outfield prospects CJ Abrams and Robert Hassell III as youngsters with high offensive potential. Marcano, the team's No. 6 prospect, struggled in High-A in 2019, posting just a .660 OPS, but he was widely scouted as an excellent hitter. The 21-year-old will certainly open this season in the minors, but the positive development provides further reassurances for the Padres and one of baseball's best farm systems.
