4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team. The deal, worth $9.25 million with three club options and the potential to be maxed out at $29.75 million, was made official on Monday. It's a great story, as Dobnak has one of the more unique rises to the big-league level, from being scouted via YouTube to driving Uber while in the minor leagues, though the team is all in on their 26-year-old right-hander. With a career 3.12 ERA and 57.5 percent ground-ball rate in 75 innings, Dobnak has largely profiled as a pitch-to-weak-contact type of hurler, though he's shown some serious swing-and-miss stuff this spring. His new-and-improved slider has helped result in an 18-0 K:BB ratio this spring- and he seems likely to enter the starting rotation at some point in 2021. Dobnak is one to keep an eye on in fantasy leagues.--Tim Capurso
