Twins Sign Byron Buxton To Contract Extension
3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton signed a seven-year, $100 million contract extension with the team on Sunday, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. With this extension, Buxton will also have full no-trade protection. While Buxton now is set to remain with the Twins for the next seven years, the question will be whether or not he can stay on the field long enough to provide good value for the team. He got off to a hot start last season, as he slashed .306/.358/.647 with 19 homers, nine steals, 32 RBI and 50 runs scored over 61 games, but injuries derailed his season once again. Buxton has got great upside when healthy, but he has played in 100 games only once in his seven year career. At this point, Buxton should be considered a potential high-upside middle-round pick.
