Twins Trading For Isiah Kiner-Falefa
3 years agoThe Minnesota Twins agreed to acquire Texas Rangers shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa on Saturday, according to sources familiar with the situation. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that the Rangers are also sending an unnamed prospect to the Twins in exchange for catcher Mitch Garver. Kiner-Falefa was set to open the 2022 season as the Rangers third baseman, but now he'll head to Minnesota, where he'll be replacing Andrelton Simmons, who signed with the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The 26-year-old is mostly exciting for his speed in fantasy leagues (career-high 20 thefts in 2021), but he hit an unexciting .271/.312/.357 with eight home runs and 53 RBI in 677 plate appearances. The move to Minnesota is also a lineup downgrade for Kiner-Falefa.
