Two Homers In Five Games For Justin Smoak
6 years agoFantasy owners of Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak have been underwhelmed in 2018, and rightfully so. After a career-high 38 home runs and .883 OPS in 2017, Smoak’s power has taken a big hit this season with a 26-homer pace and an .827 OPS. They are not bad numbers by any stretch, just not exactly what you were hoping for when investing a draft pick in the 31-year-old. However, the tides might be turning for Smoak. In an 8-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, Smoak hit his eighth bomb of the season. This comes after he hit his seventh just four days prior against the Philadelphia Phillies. It may not be much, but it’s something for fantasy owners to cling to as Smoak works through his struggles.
