6 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ty Buttrey allowed just two hits with two strikeouts over two scoreless innings in Wednesday's 6-3 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays as he secured his first save of the season while lowering his ERA to 1.13. He threw just 11 pitches in the eighth inning, so manager Brad Ausmus stuck with him in the ninth. Both Buttrey and Hansel Robles pitched on Tuesday and would've been unavailable Thursday if they would've each pitched on back-to-back days. The Angels removed Cody Allen from the closer's role and the back end has been a mixture of pitchers getting looks in the rare occasion a save chance has come up for the 14-17 club. Buttrey and Robles are the best bets for ninth-inning duties at the moment, with Luis Garcia also in the mix.--Daniel Dobish
