Ty Montgomery Gets Small Workload in Week 1
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery saw plenty of action on Sunday night against the Chicago Bears. However, that only amounted to two carries for seven yards and two receptions for 21 yards. He saw over a third of the snaps with running back Jamaal Williams getting the nod the rest of the time. Montgomery also returned kicks in the absence of wide receiver Trevor Davis (hamstring) who missed the game with an injury. Montgomery did have a long catch and run that was called back due to a holding penalty. Despite the poor stat line, the game actually gave plenty of reasons to feel good about Montgomery going forward. It is clear that he will figure prolifically in Green Bay’s offensive plans, it is just that it did not translate to a big game against Chicago. Montgomery is currently a fringe flex player but has enough upside that he is worth a roster spot.
