Ty Montgomery Looks Like No. 3 RB In New England

2 years agoAfter Friday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots running back Ty Montgomery looks like the third-best back the team has behind Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson. Rookie Pierre Strong Jr. has started slowly and Montgomery has played well, building on impressive practices this week. Montgomery touched the ball on five of 10 plays on quarterback Mac Jones' final drive. He had a crucial third-down reception, showed willingness to lower his shoulder and finished with a two-yard touchdown run. The 29-year-old former wideout offers craftiness out of the backfield and could be a matchup nightmare in the passing game. However, unless Harris or Stevenson miss time with injury, he's unlikely to have any standalone fantasy value.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
