6 years agoGreen Bay running back Ty Montgomery will be facing the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. The 49ers have a vulnerable run defense but it is unlikely that Montgomery will see enough volume to have significant production. Montgomery currently sits behind both Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones on the depth chart and sees most of his time in hurry up situations. He did see a lot of snaps last week when Green Bay fell far behind early in the game. However, Montgomery still had a low production day and is unlikely to see that type of usage most weeks. Although he provides an interesting skill set, his role hasn’t proven large enough to sustain solid fantasy production even in PPR leagues. Montgomery, a converted wide receiver, could gain fantasy value if Green Bay decided to incorporate more two back sets. Outside of that or injuries there isn’t much reason to roster him let alone start him. Montgomery can safely be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.--Tyger McGuiggan
