Tyler Chatwood Blows First Save Opportunity Of Season
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Tyler Chatwood was given the ninth inning with a 4-2 lead versus the Rays on Sunday, but was unable to lock down his first save of the season. The right-hander allowed a run on a pair of singles and two walks before leaving with two outs and the bases loaded. Left-hander Travis Bergen was then brought in to face Austin Meadows, but went on to allow three-straight walks which charged three more runs onto Chatwood's ERA. Chatwood had given up just one run on the season entering this game through 17 innings as the club's primary setup man and should bounce back after this rough outing. He's still third in the pecking order for saves with Rafael Dolis and Jordan Romano ahead of him on the depth chart, although his ratios were making him a viable RP option in deep leagues.
