7 years agoToronto Blue Jays reliever Tyler Clippard seems to be the team's candidate of choice for the closer role with Roberto Osuna out indefinitely, but that may be up in the air after Saturday. Granted, Clippard's blown save came after attempting to clean up a mess that reliever John Axford got the Blue Jays into, but he was just as bad in handing the victory to Oakland. He allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk, striking out one. Clippard was done in by a grand slam off the bat of Oakland Athletics second baseman Chad Pinder. It may only be one bad outing for Clippard, but he has to be looking over his shoulder with the more likely candidate to close, Ryan Tepera, waiting in the wings.--John Smith
