Tyler Gilbert To Make Spot Start In Game 2
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks left-hander Tyler Gilbert will make a spot start in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. Veteran southpaw Madison Bumgarner is going in Game 1. In his MLB debut last year, Gilbert threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. He had a nice 3.15 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 40 innings over nine outings (six starts), but Gilbert also had a 4.27 FIP, a weak 15.9% strikeout rate and an 8.3% walk rate in his rookie season. The 28-year-old won't be a recommended spot starter in season-long leagues or DFS on Tuesday, and he'll likely head right back to Triple-A Reno after the game.
