Tyler Glasnow Diagnosed With Partial UCL Tear
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (elbow) has been diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his right elbow, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Glasnow left his start on Monday night due to what was originally announced as right elbow inflammation, but an MRI on Tuesday morning discovered the partial tear. Obviously this is a blow for fantasy managers, as Glasnow has been having a great season so far by going 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 88 innings of work. There's no timetable for Glasnow yet, as the decision will need to be made as to whether he attempts to rehab and return this season, or if he opts for season-ending surgery. Managers can look at Zac Gallen as a potential example of what to expect with Glasnow, as Gallen has not pitched since May 7 with a partial UCL tear, but he is just now getting close to a rehab assignment. Managers should monitor this situation closely over the next couple days for further updates.
