7 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates' starting rotation is seemingly settled now, as The Athletic's Rob Biertempfel reports that Tyler Glasnow and Steven Brault will start the year in the bullpen. That appears to pave the way for Joe Musgrove to be the team's fifth starter behind Ivan Nova, Trevor Williams, Chad Kuhl, and Jamison Taillon. Musgrove has been slowed by shoulder discomfort in spring, but the Pirates do not need a fifth starter until April 8, giving him extra time to get ready. Brault now becomes a non-factor in fantasy leagues, but Glasnow is still an intriguing play. Glasnow's already dominant stuff will play up even more in relief, which will make him a viable option if your team needs strikeouts. He has fanned 19 in 12 1/3 spring innings and owns a 33.0 percent strikeout rate in his minor-league career.--Matt Wilkes
