Tyler Higbee Targeted 11 Times
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee caught five of 11 targets for 39 yards in the Rams' 31-10 opening-game loss to the Buffalo Bills. While the huge volume was encouraging for the 29-year-old tight end, who is coming off knee surgery, the lack of efficiency is concerning. This kind of target share (26.8% of the Rams passes) is not sustainable, either. His volume was inflated because No. 3 receiver Van Jefferson missed the game due to continued rehab of his knee injury, and No. 2 WR Allen Robinson II was not in sync with quarterback Matthew Stafford. The Rams would like to throw the ball to their free-agent prize WR more than twice a game. In the event that Higbee does continue to be targeted more than 10 times a game, that would not mean good things for the Rams offense, and they would not be scoring many touchdowns. Look for Higbee's volume to decline next Sunday against the Falcons in a game in which the Rams offense shouldn't have as much trouble.
