Tyler Mahle Roughed Up By Pirates Sunday
7 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle struggled in his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Mahle allowed Pittsburgh to score five runs in 4 2/3 innings of work, picking up his first loss of the season. Mahle allowed nine hits, including two homers, and only managed two strikeouts. The 23-year-old kicked off the season on the right foot against the Chicago Cubs last week, pitching six scoreless innings, but he wasn't able to keep it up on Sunday. Mahle now has a 1-1 record, 4.22 ERA, and nine strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings of work this season. His third start of the season will come against the St. Louis Cardinals this Friday.
