Tyler Mahle Strikes Out Eight Brewers In No-Decision
5 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle pitched well in an 8-6 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. Mahle turned in a quality start, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out eight but he had to settle for a no-decision. Mahle now has a 2-8 record, 4.36 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 92 strikeouts in 88 2/3 innings of work. He has taken a step forward this season, averaging the most strikeouts per nine innings of his career and posting a 3.81 xFIP. His main issue has been keeping the ball inside the park as he's still giving up too many homers, with a 1.73 home run rate per nine innings. Mahle will look to keep racking up the strikeouts in his next start, which will come on Sunday against the Cleveland Indians. He is worth using in fantasy for that outing.
