4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle allowed just one run across 6 2/3 innings in an 8-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Mahle allowed just two hits and walked two in the outing, in which he was in line for the win until Amir Garrett served up a game-tying three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning. Mahle deserved a better fate in a start where he registered an impressive 36% called strike/whiff rate. The young hurler is working on a breakout season in 2021 but he will need to continue to show the efficiency that he did on Wednesday as he has struggled to throw strikes in some of his starts this year. Next time through the rotation, Mahle will face the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.--Matt T - RotoBaller
