Tyler Mahle Won't Be Traded This Offseason
3 years agoCincinnati Reds starter Tyler Mahle isn't expected to be traded despite the team's ongoing fire sale, general manager Nick Krall told Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Krall, who noted that the team still intends to add to its roster, won't trade Luis Castillo, either. This development comes after the Reds traded Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, Amir Garrett, and Francis Peguero within the course of four days. Clearly, Cincinnati isn't in a position to be competitive this season, so perhaps they'll let Mahle build up his trade value and then shop him around at the trade deadline. The right-hander had quite the impressive 2021 season, going 13-6 with a 3.75 ERA, 24.7 percent strikeout rate, and 8.4 percent walk rate.
