2 years agoDallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said "it's safe to say" that rookie first-round offensive tackle Tyler Smith will be the starting left tackle in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Tyron Smith (hamstring, knee) out until at least December. Smith returned to practice on Monday after sitting out last week with a sprained ankle. Dallas selected the 21-year-old in the first round with visions of Smith becoming their left tackle of the future, but he'll have to step in sooner than expected. It's certainly a downgrade for the Cowboys offensive line and quarterback Dak Prescott, but Smith certainly has the ability to succeed right away.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
