Tyrod Taylor Named Starting Quarterback
7 years agoCleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson told the media on Thursday that Tyrod Taylor will be the team's starter in 2018. Jackson went on to state, "He's going to be the starting quarterback. There is no competition." The Browns are widely expected to use one of their first-round picks on a rookie quarterback but it appears the plan is for whoever they take to work as a backup for a season. Taylor came over from the Buffalo Bills last week in a trade which sent a third-round pick to Buffalo. He is coming off a 2017 season in which he completed 62.6% of his passes for 2,799 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions despite having one of the worst receiving corps in the league. He instantly becomes one of the better quarterbacks the Browns have had since they returned to the league in 1999, although admittedly the competition hasn't been very stiff.
