Tyron Smith To Have Surgery Friday
2 years agoDallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith (hamstring) will have surgery on Friday, and the team hopes he'll be able to return at some point in December. Smith suffered an avulsion fracture of his left knee in training camp practice, meaning his hamstring tendon that sits at the back of the knee pulled off the bone, according to sources. It's a tough loss for Dallas' offensive line right before the start of the regular season. With the 31-year-old now out for an extended time period, offensive tackles Tyler Smith, Josh Ball and Matt Waletzko will compete for starting duties on quarterback Dak Prescott's blind side. Smith is an eight-time Pro Bowler, so it's certainly a downgrade for Prescott's protection.
