Victor Robles Bats Ninth Thursday
4 years agoWashington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles, who has been leading off for most of the spring, hit ninth on Thursday. It was not on account of his spring performance, currently .273/.353/.591, but manager Davey Martinez seems to like the idea of using Robles as the proverbial "second leadoff hitter." This is of course bad news for Robles' fantasy value if he hits at the end of the lineup instead of atop it, with fewer plate appearances available every game. Given that possibility and Robles' weak career Statcast numbers, including just an 83.4 mph average exit velocity leading to a .285 xwOBA, he's more of a speculative pick this preseason at his 147 ADP.
