3 years agoFree-agent right-hander Vince Velasquez agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, pending a physical, according to sources familiar with the situation. Not much went right for Velasquez in 2021, as he had a 6.30 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 101 strikeouts and 49 walks in 94 1/3 innings over 25 appearances (21 starts) for the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres. The 29-year-old wasn't much better in the shortened 2020 season, when he had a 5.56 ERA in nine outings (seven starts) over 34 innings for the Phillies. In seven major league seasons, Velasquez has a 4.95 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with a 9.9 K/9 in 651 innings. He shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy radar right now.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
