5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitcher Vince Velasquez will remain in the bullpen according to manager Gabe Kapler. Velasquez had been in the Injured List since May 6 and made his first appearance Friday after being activated. This means Nick Pivetta should get the call to start Tuesday vs the Cardinals. Velasquez pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts Friday night against the Brewers and for now, the Phillies seem content to leave him in the bullpen. Velasquez had an ugly 4.85 last season but had a 3.75 FIP leading many to call him a breakout coming into this season. If he gets another shot in the rotation he's worth an add but will provide very little fantasy value in the immediate future as a relief pitcher.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
