3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez allowed three runs across four innings in a no-decision versus the Nationals on Sunday. Velasquez allowed four hits and a walk, needing 80 pitches to complete four innings. He did pick up four strikeouts and has 52 punch-outs this season in just 43 2/3 innings, but that's where the positives end for the right-hander. Velasquez has a 4.33 ERA this season; according to his FIP (5.56) and xERA (5.02), he's lucky to have that mark. Velasquez will face either the Yankees or Dodgers in his next start.
