Vince Velasquez Turns In Another Rough Start At Pirates
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez allowed five earned runs in two innings pitched to take the loss Friday at Pittsburgh. Velasquez has not completed the third inning in three of his last four starts. The right-hander's ERA is up to a ghastly 5.95 as he's given up 24 earned runs over his last 15 2/3 innings pitched. The Phillies traded for one starter at the trade deadline, so Velasquez appears to still have a job in the rotation, but teams with division-title aspirations often don't employ starters with an ERA near six. Philly doesn't have a replacement readily available, but Velasquez is not a viable fantasy option if he makes his next scheduled start at Washington.
