4 years agoWashington Capitals goaltender Vitek Vanecek will make his third career appearances on Friday against Buffalo. Vanecek won his NHL debut last week against the Sabres in a 2-1 game with a 30-save effort and he was also in the crease in Tuesday's matchup vs. Pittsburgh, which ended in a 5-4 overtime loss. The Caps are without No. 1 goalie Ilya Samsonov due to COVID-19 protocol violations. He remains out on Friday along with Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Dmitry Orlov. Vanecek did well against Buffalo last week, but the Sabres are full of offensive talent, so this could turn into a really long night for the 25-year-old Czech.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
