Vladimir Gutierrez Takes Hard-Luck Loss
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez pitched well but took the loss in his start against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. Gutierrez allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings of work while striking out seven and walking two in the 2-1 loss. The rookie right-hander has been a welcome addition to the starting rotation this season, both for the Reds and fantasy gamers. He now has an 8-4 record, 3.87 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts over 86 innings of work. He has gotten stronger as the season has gone on, posting a 3.02 ERA over his past seven starts. Cincinnati will send Gutierrez out to face off against the Miami Marlins for his next start.
