Vladimir Gutierrez Takes Third Loss
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez turned in a quality start in a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday. Gutierrez allowed three runs over six innings of work while striking out four and walking two, but he wound up taking the loss in the low-scoring game. The loss drops his record to 2-3, to go along with a 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts over 34 innings of work. Gutierrez appears to be pitching a bit above his metrics suggest as he has a 5.44 xFIP and is walking 4.24 batters per nine innings. That being said, he's worth using as a streaming option for as long as he's having success. Gutierrez is lined up to face the San Diego Padres next.
