7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers top pitching prospect Walker Buehler showed everyone what his future starts will look like. And they look scary. Playing in his last Cactus League game on Friday before being returned to the minor league backfields, the 23-year-old unloaded a second-pitch 99 mph heater against the Diamondbacks. In his two innings of work, Buehler gave up no hits, struck out two and walked one. His fastballs stayed around 97-98 mph and his final spring training WHIP across seven innings of work is 0.50. Buehler won't be called up until later in the season and the Dodgers plan to "slow play" him to keep him fresh for the regular season homestretch and playoffs. That he's throwing this hard and such a big part of the Dodgers' plans is a minor miracle itself. Buehler had Tommy John surgery shortly after being drafted in 2015 and looks to be the heir apparent should Clayton Kershaw move on from the team. He is a must-own in all formats, and makes a great trade chip when the inevitable hype of his arrival comes.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
