Wander Franco Earns Spring Training Invite
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco has officially earned his first Major League Spring Training invite for the coming year. Franco, 19, is widely viewed as the top prospect in the Majors for a second consecutive year despite not having yet played above Class A Advanced. Preternaturally talented, Franco could make a strong push for playing time with Tampa Bay, although Willy Adames can be viewed as the team's starting shortstop entering the spring. Franco has yet to play anywhere else defensively in his professional career, but he could presumably slot in at either second or third base on occasion should the Rays deem his bat dangerous enough. Keepers leagues with available slots would be best served stashing Franco as he is sure to earn consistent at-bats sometime in the next 24 months, where as 2021-only leagues are a bit more difficult of a proposition.
