White Sox Avoid Arbitration With Lucas Giolito
3 years agoThe Chicago White Sox avoided salary arbitration with starting pitcher Lucas Giolito on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $7.45 million deal. Giolito broke out as a first-time All-Star in 2019 and has become the team's ace. In the last three seasons, he has a 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, an elite 30.7% strikeout rate and an 8.0% walk rate in 427 2/3 innings covering 72 starts. The 27-year-old right-hander's strikeout rate dipped a bit in 2021, but he also had a 7.2% walk rate, the second-lowest of his career. He should be targeted as a low-end fantasy ace. RotoBaller currently has Giolito ranked as the No. 12 fantasy starter, just behind the Phillies' Zack Wheeler.
