Will Smith Falls Homer Shy Of Cycle Friday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in Friday's 9-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels in Game 1 of the two-game Freeway Series. Smith finished the night 4-for-4 with an RBI, three runs scored and one walk to raise his season line to .276/.368/.485 with an .854 OPS, 14 home runs, 47 RBI and 37 runs scored in 315 plate appearances over 76 games for the Dodgers this year. The 27-year-old is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak in which he's gone 14-for-31 (.452) with a homer, triple, three doubles and nine RBI. Not only is Smith one of the best-hitting catchers in all of baseball, but he's in one of the best offenses in the league as well.
