Willson Contreras Absent To Start The Second Half
5 years agoChicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will sit to start the second half of the season on Friday. Contreras was an All-Star, but manager Joe Maddon has been playing Victor Caratini a lot more over the past six weeks. Caratini will bat fifth versus Pirates starter Chris Archer and isn’t a bad dart throw for a cheap option on Friday. Contreras is still likely to start four or five times a week, but Maddon has made it no secret that he will likely sit twice a week for Caratini. Contreras still remains one of the best catchers in all formats, but owners in leagues that allow daily lineup changes might want to consider owning a backup option for days that Contreras sits.
