Willson Contreras Exits Early On Friday
4 years agoChicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras left Friday's in the top of the fifth inning with mild right thigh tightness. Contreras suffered the injury after hitting a single and calling out for the trainers. Contreras left immediately and backup catcher Tony Wolters replaced him on the basepaths. The good news is that Contreras was able to walk off of the field under his power. He will finish the game 2-for-3 and is now hitting .238 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. Contreras would be a big loss to managers and his replacement would be Tony Wolters. Wolters is a career .237 hitter across five season and is hitless in eight at-bats in 2021. If Contreras were to miss time, Wolters should remain on the waiver wire.
