4 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross said after Sunday's game that catcher Willson Contreras will be monitored over the next couple of days. Contreras got crossed up on a 99 MPH pitch by closer Craig Kimbrel and it hit him on the wrist in the bottom of the tenth inning. Contreras was in pain, but remained in the game for the final two outs. Ross initially feared that Contreras broke his wrist, but for now he remains day-to-day. Contreras has become a top tier catcher for a number of years now and would be a significant loss for managers if the injury turns out worse than initially expected. P.J. Higgins would be the next man up if Contreras is sidelined. Higgins can be left on the waiver wire for now.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
