Willy Adames Struggling To Produce
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Willy Adames has not lived up to his hype or 2018 numbers so far this year. He’s slashing .236/.319/.333 with only one home run and one stolen base. He’s also below average in every Statcast category with the exception of speed. Adames wasn’t projected to have a great batting average, but he looked like he had a nice power and speed combination to make up for it. However, we haven’t seen that in 2019 and he’s firmly off the fantasy radar for now. With such depth at shortstop this year, it’s hard to imagine that he’s rostered in anything but the deepest leagues. On a positive note, he’s hitting .310 over the past two weeks and doesn’t have a clear threat to his every day spot. The shortstop is still only 23 years old, so don’t count him out as an option as the season progresses or in future seasons.
