5 years agoNew York Mets catcher Wilson Ramos is working on hitting more balls in the air this spring. Ramos stated that the work to avoid hitting ground balls has been paying off. This was evidenced on Monday when Ramos homered and doubled in the Mets Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. Throughout his career, Ramos has suffered from a high ground-ball rate. In 2019, that rate shot up to 63.4% from the 2018 figure of 55.3%. Ramos projects to bat sixth or seventh in the Mets batting order in 2020. If he can successfully address his historic ground-ball issues, he should be able to build on his 2019 totals in which he hit .288 with 14 home runs and 73 RBI in 473 at-bats. Ramos makes for a very solid middle-round catching option in mixed leagues.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
