With Raisel Iglesias On DL, Closer-By-Committee Likely
6 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed closer Raisel Iglesias on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday with a left biceps strain, retroactive to May 19. Iglesias is a right-hander, so the injury shouldn't be considered too serious, but the team will have to go without their most talented reliever for at least the next few days. The Reds aren't being very clear about who will take over the ninth-inning role with Iglesias out. Interim manager Jim Riggleman named David Hernandez, Amir Garrett, Michael Lorenzen, Jared Hughes and Wandy Peralta all as candidates to see save opportunities in the meantime, which is helpful to no one in fantasy. Hughes pitched in a tie ballgame in the ninth on Wednesday, though, so that may be a good indication that he could be the leader of this committee. If you're desperate for saves, Hughes should be your first target off the waiver wire.
