Xander Bogaerts Begins Hitting on Field
7 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been on the disabled list since April 9 with an ankle injury. On Tuesday, the Red Sox shortstop began hitting on the field prior to Boston's game against the Angels. Bogaerts will still need to prove he can field ground balls and run the bases, but he is taking steps in the right direction to get back into the starting lineup. Bogaerts started out the 2018 season on fire, hitting .368 with two home runs and nine RBI. He is a threat with the bat and on the base paths, as he has at least 10 stolen bases the past three years and at least 10 home runs the past two years. Bogaerts is one of the best shortstops in the league and is a must-start when he returns to the lineup.
