2 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts told reporters on Monday that he has been playing through pain in his left wrist and left shoulder ever since his collision with Alex Verdugo on May 20. Bogaerts went on to reveal that he has been getting cortisone shots and he thinks that he has had to readjust his swing mechanics to compensate for the pain. Of course, that could explain why Bogaerts has struggled mightily at the plate of late, hitting just .220 with one homer over his past 15 games. Bogaerts can become a free-agent after the season, so these struggles are not coming at an opportune time for him. On the year, the veteran shortstop is hitting .299 with 10 homers, 66 runs, 50 RBI, and seven steals.--Matt T - RotoBaller
