Xander Bogaerts Hits First Home Run Of The Season
4 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts finally hit his first home run of the season on Tuesday, smacking a three-run shot off Blue Jays ace Hyun-Jin Ryu as part of the Red Sox's 4-2 win. Despite Bogaerts' lack of power so far this season, he has still been an elite hitter. He's hitting .469 with a 1.192 OPS over his last 13 games. With an xBA that ranks in the 87th percentile and an xSLG that ranks in the 61st percentile, it was only a matter of time before some of that loud contact translated into fence-clearing power. Bogaerts has hit 44 home runs over the last two years, so there's no reason to believe that his power shortage will continue.
