3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Yadier Alvarez is back in minor league camp and was among the pitchers to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. Alvarez was a high-bonus pitching prospect signed out of Cuba in 2015. He was a highly ranked Dodgers prospect but never developed the way they thought they would, which led to the organization designated him for assignment in the spring of 2020. The soon-to-be 26-year-old allowed three earned runs while striking out seven and walking one in just 3 2/3 innings in the Rookie League last season. In 2019, Alvarez made just two starts and allowed six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings for Double-A Tulsa. In five minor league seasons, he has a 4.07 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 253 strikeouts and 120 walks in 214 1/3 innings over 59 appearances (45 starts).--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
