Yan Gomes Has No Timetable For A Return
3 years agoWashington Nationals catcher Yan Gomes (oblique) doesn't have a timetable for a return. He was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 10 with a left oblique strain. According to manager Davey Martinez, Gomes "hasn't been able to do much still." The 33-year-old will require more than the 10 day minimum on the injured list and fantasy managers should have a clearer timeline once Gomes can ramp up his activity. He slashed .266/.320/.439 with eight home runs, 33 RBI, and 29 runs scored over 61 games before being placed on the IL. Rene Rivera drew the start at catcher in Friday's game against the Padres and could see the bulk of playing time behind the plate. The 37-year-old is mainly an option in two-catcher formats after hitting .224 with two homers and nine RBI over 22 games in 2021.
