Yan Gomes Launches Homer In Oakland Debut
3 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Yan Gomes made a good first impression on his new club by mashing a two-run homer to help beat the Angels on Sunday. Gomes added an RBI single in the contest and helped rookie pitcher Daulton Jefferies get past some early jitters and earn the win in the contest. Gomes, a veteran catcher with World Series experience with the Nationals, is a perfect fit for the A's, but his fantasy appeal is limited playing behind Sean Murphy. Gomes is a good hitter for a backup catcher and is usually a solid punt-play in DFS when he's in the lineup, but he won't get enough playing time to justify a roster spot in redraft leagues as long as Murphy is healthy.
