4 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz exited Monday’s contest against the Yankees due to a tight right hamstring that he sustained while running the bases. Hunter Renfroe entered the game in his place, with Joey Wendle shifting over to the hot corner. By collecting a pair of hits prior to exiting, Diaz raised his average on the season to .307 along with a .428 on-base percentage. Should Diaz be out of the mix moving forward, Tampa Bay has a plethora of options from Wendle to Yoshitomo Tsutsugo to Mike Brosseau to fill in. Diaz’s next chance to return to the lineup comes Tuesday against New York and right-hander Masahiro Tanaka.--Jesse Borek
