Yandy Diaz Lands On IL Due To Hamstring Injury
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz landed on the injured list prior to Tuesday’s game against the Yankees due to a hamstring strain that he sustained Monday. Manager Kevin Cash said that the timetable on Diaz’s return to the lineup is unclear, as he’ll need at least a week before he can be reevaluated. With Nate Lowe being activated from the taxi squad, the club now has a plethora of options at the hot corner as Lowe joins Joey Wendle, Yoshitomo Tsutsugo, and Mike Brosseau as candidates to fill in. While Diaz has been a tremendous on-base asset (.428) in 2020, his absence for at least the next week and a half caps his season-long value and likely makes him expendable.
