Yandy Diaz Leaves Game With Ankle Discomfort
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz was removed from Wednesday’s game in the seventh inning due to ankle discomfort after rolling it rounding third base. He’s considered day-to-day for now and the Rays hope to have him back in the lineup on Friday against the Yankees. Diaz has cooled off from the beginning of the season and is now sporting a .273/.355/.531 slash with nine homers. His potential breakout has been fueled by hitting more fly balls this year (31.4%) compared to last year (23.3%) resulting in more home runs. If he can keep hitting balls in the air he has the potential to truly break out in his first season with the Rays. He’s worth owning in most formats and may be a cheap add or acquisition for power and counting stat upside. Look for Daniel Robertson to fill in at third if Diaz misses additional time.
